So, seems like I read something somewhere about how Facebook and Twitter and whatnot has been rendering blogs obsolete. There might be something to that…
Joyeux Noël to all our friends and loved ones out there.
Back at you friend.
Yeah, kinda. Facebook allows one to control (somewhat) who’s reading; blogs are open to the world, leaving the possibility acquiring enemies or stalkers we don’t even know.
Lame excuse maybe, but it’s mine, and I’m sticking to it.
Agree with Netmom about the downside of blogs–they are potential troll magnets. Like the Oak Ridger Forum and Atomic City Talks.
But Facebook is generally used for social networking. I’ve posted on one Facebook group site, and it proved to be just as troll-infested (and poorly moderated) as most of the forums and blogs I’ve followed.
All the facebook personal sites I’ve encountered are more like tweets. Most people posting on blogs write at least a paragraph or two. This requires having some kind of central point and the effort to frame it in an interesting way.
I enjoy reading about you guys, whether here or on facebook. There are also some outstanding blogs that I would not be without and I don’t think will be migrating to facebook anytime soon.

Is this thing on?
